In accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 , we are dedicated to ensuring ethical recruitment practices and maintaining complete transparency across all internal operations and supply chains.
We recognise that healthcare recruitment carries a duty of care not only to patients and client practices but also to the locum personnel we place. We ensure that every dental nurse and receptionist working with Evergreen Dental is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
2. Supply Chains & Due Diligence
Our primary business activity involves the recruitment, vetting, and placement of locum dental nurses and dental receptionists into NHS and private dental practices across England. To mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our operations:
- Direct Recruitment Model: We interact directly with candidates, verifying original identification, Right to Work in the UK documentation, and General Dental Council (GDC) registrations.
- No Finder or Placement Fees: Candidates are never charged recruitment, administration, or onboarding fees to gain employment through Evergreen Dental.
- Strict Supplier Auditing: Third-party suppliers (such as IT, payroll software, or uniform providers) are assessed to ensure they adhere to UK labour standards and anti-slavery legislation.
3. Vetting & Safeguarding Standards
To ensure no individual is subject to coercion, debt bondage, or forced labour, Evergreen Dental mandates stringent onboarding protocols prior to any shift placement:
- Identity & Right to Work Checks: Rigorous, face-to-face or verified digital checks of passports, biometric residence permits, and UK immigration statuses.
- Direct Bank Account Verification: All remuneration is deposited directly into a bank account owned and controlled by the individual worker to prevent financial exploitation by third-party handlers.
- Professional Registration Verification: Active status with the General Dental Council (GDC) and Enhanced DBS clearance are validated directly through primary source registers.
4. Employee Rights & Fair Pay
Evergreen Dental is fully committed to upholding fair compensation standards. All locum staff are remunerated at or above statutory national minimum pay guidelines, with full transparency regarding hourly pay rates, statutory rights, and shift expectations. Candidates retain the right to refuse shifts or terminate their registration with Evergreen Dental at any time without financial penalty or restriction.
5. Training & Awareness
Our onboarding and administrative personnel receive clear guidance on identifying indicators of human trafficking and modern slavery. Key warning indicators monitored during candidate interactions include:
- Inability to produce original identity documentation or passports.
- Multiple candidate profiles sharing matching bank account details, physical addresses, or phone numbers without valid justification.
- Signs of physical or emotional distress, coercion, or third-party interference during interviews and communications.
6. Reporting Concerns & Whistleblowing
Evergreen Dental encourages an open and transparent culture. Any worker, client practice, or team member who suspects or discovers any instance of modern slavery or human trafficking is required to report it immediately to Evergreen Dental Management.
Reports can also be made externally and confidentially directly to the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or to the relevant emergency services.
7. Statement Approval & Review
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Evergreen Dental Staffing Agency’s modern slavery statement. It is reviewed annually to reflect changing legislative guidance and best practices in healthcare staffing.
